Apple Foldable iPhone Ultra May Launch With A20 Pro Chip

Apple’s foldable iPhone is expected to launch on September 9 at the “Surprise and Shine” event. Apple has not released details about the flagship device yet, but industry leaks are already pointing to a steep price tag for iPhone Ultra. The latest rumors also suggest that Apple’s first foldable device will likely come with superior features. 

What are the Potential Foldable iPhone Features?

Rumors suggest that Apple’s foldable iPhone could potentially lead iPhone 18 in some specifications. 

Based on the latest industry leaks, here are the main iPhone Ultra specifications:

1. A Dual Display Screen

The most distinct feature in Apple’s foldable iPhone is probably the dual display setup. iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a 5.5-inch OLED cover display and a 7.6-7.8-inch OLED inner display. The inner screen comes with ProMotion for up to 120Hz refresh rate. 

2. A Next-Gen Processor 

Rumors suggest that iPhone Ultra will be powered by the A20 Pro chip manufactured by TSMC using the 2-nanometer process. The A20 Pro  processor offers major advancements in raw processing power and energy efficiency. iPhone Ultra is expected to feature 12GB of RAM to support advanced multitasking.

3. Minimal Crease and Liquid Metal Hinge

The foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a dual-layer glass structure separating the screen from the hinge. The foldable is expected to arrive with an ultra-thin glass and a cutting-edge liquid metal hinge designed to reduce the center crease to under 0.15mm. 

4. Touch ID Security

iPhones typically use Face ID security, whereas iPhone Ultra is expected to shift to the more convenient Touch ID used in iPad Air and Pro. The device is rumored to feature a Touch ID sensor built into the side power button. 

5. Four Cameras

Industry leaks suggest that Apple’s book-style smartphone will likely feature four cameras:  two on the back, one on the inside, and one selfie camera. iPhone Ultra is expected to feature a dual-48-megapixel rear camera system (main and ultra-wide) and a 24-megapixel selfie camera. 

6. Storage Capacities 

The iPhone Ultra is expected to offer flexible storage options to support apps and media. Apple's first foldable smartphone will likely offer four distinct  storage configurations: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB. 

What is iPhone Ultra’s Expected Price? 

Industry leaks have placed the starting price for Apple’s foldable iPhone at about  $2,099. In India, iPhone fold’s price is expected to range between Rs. 198,300 and Rs. 217,200. 

This price is expected to reach $2,299 depending on configurations. 

Rumors also suggest that the high-end version of iPhone Ultra might cost more than $3,000.  The first foldable iPhone is expected to reach store shelves alongside iPhone 18 Pro models around September 19, the same date as iPhone 17’s release last year.
