You Might Soon Be Able to Schedule WhatsApp Messages Easily

WhatsApp is testing a scheduled message capability in its iOS beta (version 26.7.10.72), spotted on Apple’s TestFlight program. Once released, users can craft a message and set a precise date and time for it to send automatically without manual intervention.

As reported by The Indian Express, the update includes a “Scheduled Messages” section that lets users review, edit, or cancel pending messages before delivery. The system is aimed at reminders, greetings, and timely updates without extra effort. The feature is not yet live in the stable version.

How WhatsApp’s New Update Compares to Rivals

In contrast to WhatsApp’s message automation, Telegram has offered native message scheduling for years. Users long-press the send button, set the date/time, and the message is delivered even when the app isn’t open. Telegram also stores messages server-side, enabling seamless delivery across devices.

WhatsApp lacked this convenience for a long time, leaving users reliant on workarounds like third-party tools.

Google Messages similarly supports scheduling, letting users set timed sends from within the app. With this new WhatsApp feature, the app is finally catching up in basic automation alongside its expanding suite of beta features focused on engagement and productivity.

WhatsApp’s Push Toward Productivity

The scheduled message enhancement comes after a phase of active innovation and experimentation in WhatsApp deployments. Recent updates include new “About” status features similar to those in Instagram Notes. This feature is designed to let users post short text snippets to contacts, and enhancements to status engagement and call interactions.

WhatsApp has also been trialing features like parental controls and planning tools that enhance safety and flexibility across the platform. These ongoing beta features reflect a broader trend of incorporating social, productivity, and safety capabilities beyond core messaging.
