- Built with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, running on Android XR and Gemini
- Offers up to nine hours of battery life, with seven more charges from the case
Samsung has introduced its first Samsung Galaxy Glasses, calling them intelligent eyewear, at Galaxy Unpacked in London. The launch pairs Samsung’s hardware with two established eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, and pushes the Galaxy ecosystem beyond phones and watches for the first time.
What makes this eyewear different from a regular pair of glasses?
The eyewear carries a lightweight frame and a slim profile built for daily wear rather than short bursts of use. A built-in camera adds visual context to the AI experience, and the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform handles processing, touch input, and connectivity inside the compact frame.
Battery life runs up to nine hours per charge, with the charging case adding up to seven more full charges. That puts the device closer to how people already treat wireless earbuds than how they think about past smart glasses attempts.
How does the Gemini AI integration work?
Built in partnership with Google, the glasses bring Gemini into a wearable form factor. Samsung’s Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of the Mobile experience Business, said the goal is bringing more personalized AI assistance naturally into the moments that make up everyday life.
The eyewear can summarize long messages, read information aloud, and support live translation through voice or gesture controls linked to other Galaxy devices. It can also capture what a user is looking at, such as a whiteboard during a meeting, and organize that information inside Samsung Notes for later review.
What can the eyewear actually do day to day?
Samsung outlined five core experiences: staying in the moment through message summaries and translation, capturing visual context for later reference, real-time navigation and location guidance, context-aware follow-ups across tasks, and live visual sharing during calls. Each function is designed to work hands-free, without requiring the user to reach for a phone screen.
This kind of always-on visual context is the same territory Samsung has been exploring across its broader XR push, an area we cover in more detail in our look at how extended reality is reshaping daily workflows.
Why did Samsung partner with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker?
Samsung built two distinct designs rather than one universal frame. The Gentle Monster edition uses a slim black frame with a straight upper rim and rounded lower edges. The Warby Parker version has an upswept brow line in brown, aimed at everyday settings rather than a tech-forward look.
Samsung worked closely with both partners on fit points like the forehead and ears, treating the eyewear as a fashion accessory first and a computing device second. That framing lines up with Samsung’s wider strategy of pairing hardware credibility with design partners, a pattern also visible in Samsung’s broader shift toward an AI-first product identity.
When and where will the glasses be available?
Samsung has not confirmed pricing or a specific sale date. The announcement positions the eyewear as part of the same Unpacked lineup as the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8, all of which begin shipping August 7, 2026. Availability details for the eyewear itself are expected to follow closer to that window.
