In Focus

  • Meta has launched new business skills and app connections within its Muse AI agent

  • Muse can use information from connected storefront, accounting, design and Meta business accounts to help owners plan and complete work

  • Meta says users must approve actions before Muse publishes, sends messages or spends money

  • The offering is available to adults in the US and Canada, with most uses free

The Meta AI agent for small business is expanding beyond personal tasks into everyday business operations. Meta announced on September 29 that Muse can now connect with tools including Shopify, Intuit QuickBooks, Stripe, and Canva, allowing owners to work across their storefronts, finances, and marketing accounts through the agent.

What Can Muse as a Small Business AI Agent?

Muse can link Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts, along with tools, such as Klaviyo, Notion, Slack and Zoom.

Meta says the agent can then help analyze sales and campaigns, draft marketing content, identify expenses that appear unusual and suggest work that needs attention. How well it performs those jobs will depend on the information available through each connected account.

For owners who handle several roles themselves, the appeal is time. Tom Mulholland, who owns a grocery business in Iowa and has used Muse, told Meta: “I need to free up time for the work that actually makes my business money.” His account offers an early user perspective, although Meta has not published independent measures of time saved by small businesses using the new features.

The Meta AI agent for small business is designed to follow a goal across connected apps, rather than respond to a single prompt. An owner could ask Muse to review sales and advertising results, prepare a growth plan and draft a campaign. The owner would still need to check the output before acting on it.

What Can the AI Agent Do Without Approval?

Giving a Meta Muse business assistant access to customer records, financial information, and ad accounts makes its permissions central to the product.

In the announcement of Muse for Small Businesses, Meta says: “nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval.” Its product page also describes an audit trail showing what Muse has done and plans to do.

Meta says Muse is free for most uses, with subscription plans available for users who want more. The small business features are available to people aged 18 and older in the US and Canada. Meta has not announced a timetable for additional markets.

Why Is Meta Bringing Muse to Businesses?

The launch comes a day after Meta announced an enterprise platform intended to bring Muse and other AI products to companies and developers. Meta created a new enterprise AI unit and the appointed former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai to lead it.

Meta Muse’s AI expansion in 2026 builds on the Muse capabilities highlighted in Meta Connect 2026’s announcements. This Meta Muse AI expansion adds business skills and connections within the existing personal agent, rather than requiring owners to use a separate business app.

The test for the Meta AI agent for small business will be whether it can complete useful work across those services accurately while leaving customer communication, publishing and spending under the owner’s control.
