Google has started testing a blue halo ring around user profile photos in its account switcher. Google’s account switcher blue aura is only available on paid Google One accounts. Regular Google One profiles do not feature the blue halo ring.
Why Has Google Redesigned the Account Switcher?
Google recently changed icons across its Workspace apps. The tech giant replaced its colored icons with 3D, indicating AI-powered functionality. Previously, this gradient appeared across Gemini-powered apps to reflect AI inclusion.
After rolling the icon out, the tech giant is bringing similar changes to other apps, starting with the account switcher. The new ring adds an ‘Aura’ around user profile photos. Rather than segment the ring with different colors, Google is testing a blue halo effect that resembles Gemini’s icon.
The blue aura has already been spotted in Google apps’ code. However, the change hasn’t gone live yet. Once the tech company rolls out the Google One blue aura, it will appeal across all apps, replacing the current multi-colored ring that currently appears on Google One subscriber profiles.
Which Accounts Will Feature the Blue Aura Ring?
Google will add the new “Aura” ring on Google One subscriber accounts as well as to AI Pro and Ultra. The ring will also appear on Google AI subscriber accounts later after the company rolls it out officially.
Google One is a subscription service that extends the benefits of a standard Google account. It offers expanded cloud storage across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos, automatic device backups, and family sharing for up to five additional members.
Higher-tier Google One plans include premium features such as Gemini AI capabilities, Google Store hardware discounts, enhanced Google Workspace video conferencing, and access to advanced Google Home and Fitbit Premium features.
