Anthropic-Backed Ode Targets Faster Enterprise AI Adoption

In Focus

  • Anthropic, Blackstone and Hellman & Friedman announced the formation of Ode this year
  • The company designs custom systems for individual organizations
  • Ode has a workforce of 100 engineers

Anthropic, Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman, Goldman Sachs and other partners have launched Ode with Anthropic to fast-track enterprise AI adoption. Announced earlier this year, Ode is an independent AI implementation company that brings together Anthropic’s frontier AI models, financing from leading investors, and a team of experienced AI engineers and operators.

Investors in the consortium include General Atlantic, Goldman Sachs, Apollo Global Management, Sequoia Capital, and Leonard Green & Partners.

Why Did Anthropic Create Ode?

Anthropic, Blackstone, and Hellman & Friedman formed Ode to help enterprises adopt and deploy AI systems more effectively. As AI models improve in performance and capabilities, it’s still unclear how full enterprise adoption would look like.

AI labs have been attempting to shape this future by setting up separate entities that deploy AI engineers to client offices to support integration of AI models into their operations. For Anthropic, Ode with Anthropic performs this critical role.

As mid-size companies move from experimenting with AI to building it into their operations, they need partners with real implementation depth and a clear understanding of how their businesses actually work. Ode was built to be that partner,” Anthropic’s Head of Forward Deployed Engineering in the Americas, Garvan Doyle noted.

Ode was formed after OpenAI established an entity to support enterprise AI deployment.
The ChatGPT-maker also launched Frontier, an enterprise platform that makes AI agent development and deployment easier for businesses.

The move to set up separate AI deployment entities means that AI labs must do more than develop AI models to win enterprise customers takes more than developing AI models.

What Does Ode with Anthropic Do?

With a workforce of 100 engineers, Ode works with the applied AI team in Anthropic to identify areas where technology can have significant impact in businesses. The company also designs custom systems to suit the operations in individual organizations.

Companies everywhere see the potential for what AI can do for their businesses, the challenge is making it real. Our teams partner closely with CEOs and across organizations to define and execute the highest priority AI initiatives,” Ode CEO Chris Taylor noted.

As Ode handles AI consulting tasks, the internal team at Anthropic focuses on strategic, mission-aligned AI deployments. The private equity firms backing Ode are expected to refer portfolio companies to the joint venture as potential customers.

Ode will also serve companies outside those portfolios. Ode is built on the technology developed by Fractional AI, an applied AI services firm that Anthropic acquired in May 2026.

What Ode Means for Anthropic’s Enterprise AI Business

Ode represents Anthropic’s effort to move beyond developing advanced AI models like Claude Mythos and play a larger role in how businesses adopt and deploy them. As enterprise demand for AI grows, the ability to provide implementation expertise could become a key differentiator among AI companies. If Ode succeeds, it could strengthen Anthropic’s position in the enterprise market.
