Google Expands Gemini’s Influence in Creative Workflows With Adobe, Canva Connectors

Adobe is partnering with Google to add connectors to Gemini AI in the coming weeks. Canva is also bringing its connector to Gemini. The design companies are making this move at a time when Google pushes toward making Gemini the go-to app capable of handling tasks in multiple platforms. Adobe and Canva connectors in Gemini will give Google users access to a wide range of design and editing tools.

How Will the Gemini-Adobe Integration Work?

Google is making Gemini more accessible by leveraging third-party connectors and agentic capabilities. Connectors allow the AI model to access third-party platforms and data hubs. Agentic capabilities, on the other hand, allow Gemini to complete tasks through external tools.

The Gemini-Adobe integration allows users to assign tasks to AI agents across the entire Creative Cloud suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Express, and Premiere.

“Soon, hundreds of millions of Gemini users will be able to simply describe what they want to create and have Adobe’s pro-grade tools across imaging, design, and video handle the orchestration behind the scenes, all directly in Gemini,” Adobe said in a statement posted on its website.

Last month, Adobe introduced a connector for Anthropic’s Claude AI. This move made over 50 design tools accessible to creative professionals. It’s not clear whether with the new connectors, Gemini subscribers can access additional agentic creation tools.

Adobe introduced the Gemini connector a month after it launched the Firefly AI assistant, a creative agentic tool that enables users to complete tasks across its video and photo editing software suite.

How to Access Gemini-Canva Integration Connectors

Canva’s Gemini connector is already available across Google AI subscriber tiers in select markets. Canva subscribers in the same also access the markets. To activate Gemini agents, users should type “@Canva” followed by a prompt explaining their design idea.

In Canva, Google’s Gemini design AI combines the Nano Banana image generation model with Magic Layers. This means once an image is generated in the Gemini app, creators can move it Canva and refine its elements or objects.

Having the full power of Canva’s platform right in Gemini makes it seamless to turn AI-generated content into polished work that’s ready to scale,” Canva Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, Cameron Adams said.

Adobe and Canva introduced Gemini connectors a day after Google launched the Omni AI model. The new model features advanced AI-powered video generation capabilities that makes it easier for users to edit videos using natural language.
