- The AI tools enable new merchants to generate listings from existing online presence
- DoorDash AI features help sellers to make dishes more appealing
- A revamped video library allows sellers to tag dishes in videos
DoorDash has introduced AI tools to its merchant onboarding platform. The food ordering company said its new suite of AI-powered tools are designed to improve operational efficiencies and help businesses launch and grow faster. With the DoorDash AI onboarding tools, new merchants can launch their businesses faster.
New Tools Makes Merchant Onboarding Faster
The AI-powered tools make it easier for merchants to onboard the DoorDash platform. Sellers can direct the DoorDash AI merchant onboarding tool to existing online presence like websites and it automatically collects information like photos, menu items, and store hours.
Using the data, the tool generates a listing on the DoorDash app, and sellers only need to review and edit the information before publishing the listing. According to DoorDash, these capabilities allow sellers to launch their businesses 35% faster.
“We’re constantly building tools to help merchants succeed, from their very first day on the platform, to every order after. These new tools reflect our belief that the right technology should remove friction, not add it, so merchants can focus on what they do best: making great food and delivering incredible customer experiences,” DoorDash Head of Merchant Product, Brian Tolkin noted in a company statement.
Merchants Can Tag Dishes on Videos
DoorDash, which acquired Deliveroo last year, also unveiled a revamped video library that allows merchants to tag dishes in videos, enabling customers to order those items directly. Merchants also get to see important video stats like the number of views, new customer sales, and video-driven sales.
“Adding videos through the DoorDash Video Library has made a real impact for us, especially when it comes to boosting promotions and visibility. Videos have made a noticeable impact, they’re a powerful way for us to boost promotions and get more visibility with customers,” Quickie’s Burgers & Wings Admin, Abdallah Ashram said.
DoorDash is also offering restaurants AI tools for editing photos. One of these tools is AI Retouch, which is capable of sharpening images, replacing backgrounds, and optimizing lighting without adjusting the meal.
Another DoorDash AI photo editing tool is AI Replate. With this tool, users can give their images a professionally plated look by adjusting color and lighting. Sellers can ask the tool to reference an image and apply a specific style to their current image.
What Next for DoorDash
DoorDash is facing fierce competition from Instacart and Uber Eats. To stay ahead of the competition, the company has introduced new features to its commerce platform to enable restaurant owners to set up a website using menu items and images that already exist on its platform. Last year, the food ordering company partnered with Waymo to deliver food and grocery orders in Phoenix.
