Google Search Profiles Feature Makes Publishers and Creators More Visible Online

Google has introduced Search Profiles, a new feature that allows publishers and creators to enhance visibility online. The new tool gives publishers control over how their content appears on Google Search and Discover feeds. Google launched the new feature days after it introduced tools that allow users to personalize recommendations in Search.
How Will Google’s Search Profile Feature Work?
Search Profiles are designed to display the latest posts made by publishers and creators. The display enables creators and publishers to showcase their newest content, including social media posts, videos, and articles.
To benefit from the new feature, users must have a minimum of 1 million followers or subscribers on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, or X. TikTok users must have 3 million followers to use the Google Search Profiles for publishers feature. Only users aged 18 and above are eligible to use Search Profiles.
“Search profiles are a dedicated, shareable space to highlight content across platforms, and help audiences find accurate, up-to-date information about sources on Search. People can easily follow sources from their profile, so they’re more likely to see that content on Discover, found on the home screen of the Google app,” Google’s Product Manager for Search, Ibrahim Badr stated in a blog post.
Users Can Customize Google Search Profiles
In addition to improving visibility for publishers and creators, Search Profiles allow audiences to follow them with ease. Users have the option of claiming existing profiles auto-generated by Google. They can customize their profiles by including their avatars, websites, bios, video platforms, and social media handles.
Content creators can access Google Search Profiles via Discover, the publisher knowledge panels, or using a direct link. Google, which recently introduced an Intelligent Search Box to accommodate longer queries, claimed that a Search Profile could generate a Google knowledge panel. For users who already have a knowledge panel, the system updates their profile information with recent content, direct profile link, and new avatars.
Google’s new Search Profiles come days after regulators in the Competition Markets Authority in the U.K. ruled that publishers can opt out of Google AI search results.
How to Create Search Profiles on Google
Users can check whether Google has already autogenerated their Search Profiles before setting up a new one. They can do this by opening profile.google.com and logging into the Google account that is linked to their creator or publishing activities.
Alternatively, they can check this on Google Search by clicking on “More” and selecting the “View Search Profile” option.
Eligible users with no Search Profiles can create one by following the steps below:
- Open profile.google.com/claim
- Log into the Google Account/li>
- Log into a content platform with the eligible follower count/li>
- Select “Create Profile”/li>
Google Search Profiles rollout has already started in the U.S. The tech giant plans to add more capabilities to the new features and expand accessibility to publishers and creators outside the U.S. in the coming days.
