Enterprise software firm ServiceNow is investing $40 million in Indian banking software firm BusinessNext. The Series C funding round pushed BusinessNext’s valuation to $700 million. The investment gives ServiceNow a 5% stake in the Indian banking software bank and strengthens BusinessNext’s efforts to expand private AI solutions across banking services.
“This investment will further accelerate our efforts to deliver Private AI solutions, meeting the unique needs of banking and financial services, helping ensure the highest level of security while meeting all regulatory governance frameworks and sovereignty aspects,” BusinessNext CEO Nishant Singh said in a statement cited by YourStory.com.
Why ServiceNow’s Investment Matters for BusinessNext
ServiceNow’s funding in BusinessNext comes at a time when the Indian firm is looking to expand its operations globally. Following the India expansion, ServiceNow will work with BusinessNext to develop an unified autonomous operating system for enterprises in the financial sector.
Since its establishment in 2002, BusinessNext has been building an autonomous banking platform that automates banking workflows using AI agents. The platform secures sensitive customer data through a private AI infrastructure to comply with regulatory requirements.
The Indian banking service firm supports customer-facing acquisitions and manages real-time customer signals. On the other hand, ServiceNow offers an operations platform that supports middle and back-office operations for financial service providers. Following the acquisition by ServiceNow, BusinessNext will have access to the company’s global sales network.
Why is ServiceNow Investing in India?
By partnering with an Indian firm that focuses on AI-driven financial services software, ServiceNow is cementing its position itself in the banking sector. The investment paves the way for the U.S. firm to expand its enterprise software portfolio to India’s banking sector.
“India’s financial services sector is at an inflection point, institutions are moving from digital experimentation to full-scale AI-led operations. ServiceNow’s investment in BusinessNext is a direct bet on that transformation, bringing together deep banking intelligence and enterprise-grade AI orchestration to help Indian banks and insurers move faster, serve customers better, and operate with far greater efficiency,” ServiceNow’s GVP & Managing Director in India Kulmeet Bawa noted.
In recent years, ServiceNow has spent heavily on acquisitions. Last year, the company acquired Armis to strengthen its cybersecurity capabilities amidst growing cyberattack risks.
What the ServiceNow Partnership Means for BusinessNext
BusinessNext views its partnership with ServiceNow as critical in expanding its influence to markets where it has limited presence. Currently, the company generates about 50% of its revenue from enterprises outside India.
The company expects that overseas markets will contribute significantly to its growth in future.
BusinessNext serves over 70 banks in India, the Middle East, the U.S. and Southeast Asia. Top customers include the Reserve Bank of India, the State Bank of India, and HDFC Bank. In the last financial year, the company reported $32 million in revenue.
